Description of Responsibilities

Responsible for managing the holding company’s independent loan review function; providing the audit committee/board of directors with assurance that the company is complying with safe and sound underwriting standards, proper portfolio management processes, regulatory provisions and board approved credit policies. Responsible for developing and managing ag lending relationships.

  • Develops, performs activities under and/or manages the implementation of the company's credit (loan and lease) review plan.  
  • Hires, directs and manages a sufficient and capable staff and/or co-sourcing partners to complete effective and timely reviews; prepares and/or reviews reports; ensures corrective measures have been implemented
  • Prepares reports for presentation to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors regarding the status of the credit review plan; keeps committee informed of emerging trends in various portfolios, increased risk factors in the portfolios,  best practices in the industry, and regulatory initiatives
  • Performs and/or analyses and/or reviews and verifies macro reviews of homogeneous portfolio trends.
  • Evaluates and assesses new and/or changing credit products, services and processes coincident with their development, implementation and/or expansion; works with other areas to ensure proper processes have been implemented to identify, account for and manage problem assets and manage overall portfolio risks. 
  • Keeps abreast of regulatory and accounting pronouncements and revisions relative to credit products and services; acts as a resource to line management regarding regulatory matters

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8-10 years previous experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Proficient understanding of underwriting of all types of credit, including reviewing of financial statements for various types of business concerns
  • Analytical and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and constructively with all levels of employees and management
  • Computer skills
  • Qualitative analyses
